Now, I don’t think that’s fair, Anon. We were all once new. Would you want to join a fandom that is exclusive to it’s older members? Not I. I’ve been with the Marble Hornets Fandom for almost the entire time of it’s premiere, and I even can’t think of how singling out newer members can be beneficial. I actually find the tag enjoyable. Seeing new people freak out over old scares is refreshing. Us older members can have a problem with being “conditioned” so much that we don’t have that jump.
Which, now that you have mentioned it, I think it’s time to address something that I have been seeing people complain about in this fandom way too much:
It is a good thing that Marble Hornets is gaining popularity.
“What are you saying, DoH?! Blasphemy! We were such a tight knit fandom! Why would you want to ruin that?!”
Because Marble Hornets seriously an underrated piece of art.
Troy, Tim, Joseph, and everyone else involved in it’s production have put forward so much effort for the past three years in making Marble Hornets what we know it is today. It deserves all the recognition it is getting, and more. We forget too often that Troy has ambitions to be a director, Tim (I believe) recently switched to study film, and Joseph, although not in film, has a big creative side in other areas, like music, and has co-directed MH. Marble Hornets being popular is a fantastic thing for their futures, so who are we to try to suppress that because we want to be a “tight-knit” group?
Also, on the idea of more people, in my opinion, that means more friends. I have so many friends now because of Marble Hornets.. people I can’t live without and I talk to every single day. Why kill the opportunity to make new ones? Also, you’ve seen the Marble Hornets Confessions. MH has gotten some fans through some seriously difficult times by providing an outlet or a distraction. When Marble Hornets Season 1 was ongoing, it was a really difficult time for my life, and I owe it to Troy, Tim, and Joseph for providing a distraction during it, and meeting friends to help me through it. I would be a horrible person for trying to single out others who might need the exact same thing.
So to answer your question, No. Never. I refuse to single out anyone. I welcome everyone and hope they will love MH as much as we do, and will enjoy all it’s horrors, all the fandom jokes, and make a lot of friends within it.
QFT. Don’t be dicks to new fans. Everyone’s theories are equally wrong. :V
